About the Role

Provides support to individuals with Mental Health (MH) or Substance Abuse Issues in residential, school, workplace, and community settings. These interventions are strength-based and focused on promoting recovery, symptom reduction, increased coping skills, and achievement of the highest level of functioning in the community. Staffing ratios consider evening and weekend hours, needs of special populations, and geographical areas served.

Persons who meet the requirements specified for Qualified Professional (QP) status have the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by the population and age to be served and may deliver supports within the requirements of the staff definition specified in the service definitions. Relies on supervision and direction to provide quality services.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use issues in home, school, workplace, and community settings in accordance with the service definition.
  • Assists individuals with living independently through strength-based interventions focused on promoting recovery, symptom reduction, increased coping skills, and achievement of the highest quality of life in the community.
  • Facilitates relationships and serves as a link between individuals served, the company, family, guardians, local agencies, and the community.
  • Minimizes the negative effects of psychiatric symptoms or substance dependence that interfere with daily living and personal development, providing supportive counseling.
  • Supports clients in developing skill-building activities, including daily and community living skills, socialization skills, adaptation skills, and behavior and anger management.
  • Performs case management functions, including linking and arranging services and referrals.
  • Works closely with other clinical/professional staff to maintain communication, provide feedback, standardize procedures, and expedite service implementation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must meet the requirements of a Qualified Professional (QP) with one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field (e.g., Social Service, Sociology, Psychology) and 2+ years of full-time experience with the population served.
  • Bachelor’s degree (not in a Human Services field) and 4+ years of full-time experience with the population served.
  • Master’s degree or higher and 1+ years of full-time experience with the population served.

Must hold a license, provisional license, certificate, registration, or permit issued by a governing board regulating a human service profession.

Populations served include: Mentally Ill-Child, Mentally Ill-Adult, Substance Abuse-Adult, Substance Abuse-Child.

  • Complete criminal background check.
  • Name checked in the OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities registry.
  • Drug testing.
  • Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required).
  • For positions requiring driving: Proof of driver’s license, driver’s insurance, and vehicle (if required for providing transportation for individuals).
