About the role
Registered Nurse providing direct patient care in a behavioral health setting.
Responsibilities
- Completing admission and shift assessments, documenting patient behaviors and responses.
- Using critical thinking to analyze assessment data and notify physicians of changes.
- Participating in multidisciplinary treatment plan development, review, and evaluation.
- Ensuring accurate documentation of nursing care and adherence to policies.
- Implementing physicians' orders and monitoring patient and environmental safety.
- Supervising care delivered by LPNs and technicians, serving as a clinical resource.
- Educating patients and families based on assessed needs, documenting education provided.
- Applying evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge to deliver age- and clinical-specific care.
- Maintaining professional standards and ethical guidelines, demonstrating alertness and safety.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or equivalent licensing.
- Current RN license in the state of practice or valid compact state license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- No prior experience required.
Skills & physical requirements
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and assessment skills.
- Ability to perform constant standing, walking, lifting, reaching, and data entry.
- Physical ability to lift and move patients, operate equipment, and respond to emergency situations.
- Ability to distinguish colors, odors, and sounds critical to patient care.
