About the role

This position may be a member of a team that provides support, services, and treatments necessary to provide integrated care to individuals with behavioral health diagnosis or substance use disorders. Provides oversight and general nursing care and services to persons with behavioral health challenges in the community by performing the duties listed in this job description.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes skills and expertise to assess and monitor clients, participate in behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment, and respond to crises on a timely basis.
  • Follows the recipients' Crisis Plan, attends Person Centered Plan (PCP) meetings, and develops plans as requested.
  • Complies with Controlled Substances policy and procedures, maintains accurate inventories and controlled logs, and follows appropriate guidelines for investigation of discrepancies.
  • Makes sure to monitor consumers and take appropriate action for side effects and adverse reactions to medications.
  • Aids team members in assessing learning needs of the consumers and carries out teaching as indicated.
  • Completes QA activities as requested and participates in the QA process.
  • Supervises employees by interviewing, making recommendations for hiring, and training them; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, motivating, disciplining, and promoting team performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ensures license of other nursing staff is in good standing as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, with a minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • One year of nursing experience. Experience in behavioral health nursing preferred.
  • Some college training and/or management experience helpful.
  • Valid drivers license (this is a condition of employment) including personal vehicle insurance coverage.
  • Must maintain proficiency in company sponsored training and certifications and privileging if required.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing, with a minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • Must meet the education, experience, licensure/certification requirements specified by the service definition of the service being provided.
  • Must have a valid drivers license (this is a condition of employment) including personal vehicle insurance coverage.
  • Maintain proficiency in company sponsored training and certifications and privileging if required.

Skills

  • Current nursing assessment skills and knowledge of nursing principles.
  • Ability to assess and monitor clients, participate in behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment, and respond to crises on a timely basis.
  • Proficiency in CPR from floor level.
