About the role
This position may be a member of a team that provides support, services, and treatments necessary to provide integrated care to individuals with behavioral health diagnosis or substance use disorders. Provides oversight and general nursing care and services to persons with behavioral health challenges in the community by performing the duties listed in this job description.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes skills and expertise to assess and monitor clients, participating in behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment and responding to crises on a timely basis.
- Follows the supports and services as indicated in the recipients Crisis Plan, which is a component of all person centered plans.
- Attends Person Centered Plan (PCP) meetings, develops plans as requested.
- Complies with Controlled Substances policy and procedures in maintaining accurate inventories and controlled logs, following appropriate guidelines for investigation of discrepancies.
- Makes sure to monitor consumers and take appropriate action for side effects and adverse reactions to medications.
- Aids team members with assessing learning needs of the consumers and carries out teaching as indicated.
- Completes QA activities as requested and participates in the QA process.
- Serves as a supervisor, interviewing, making recommendations for hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, motivating, disciplining and promoting team performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Ensures license of other nursing staff is in good standing as appropriate.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, with a minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- One year of nursing experience. Experience in behavioral health nursing preferred.
- Some college training and/or management experience helpful.
- Valid drivers license (this is a condition of employment) including personal vehicle insurance coverage.
- Must maintain proficiency in company sponsored training and certifications and privileging if required.
Qualifications
- Must meet the education, experience, licensure/certification requirements specified by the service definition of the service being provided.
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing, with a minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

Skills
- Current nursing assessment skills and knowledge of nursing principles.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from floor level.
