BEHAVIORAL HEALTH RECOVERY COACH II

About the role

Catholic Charities Family and Community Services (CCFCS) is a regional agency dedicated to supporting individuals with mental health, substance use, and chronic health conditions. We provide recovery-oriented activities and interventions, focusing on education, vocational objectives, and community living.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with learning adaptive behaviors and avoiding triggers that lead to relapse.
  • Provide training on treatment regimens, recovery concepts, and self-care skills.
  • Collaborate with family and caregivers to develop interventions for specific issues.
  • Develop and implement behavioral health and health education support groups.
  • Support individuals in accessing social service systems and navigating recovery-oriented systems of care.
  • Offer tutoring and skill development for individuals as needed.
  • Assist individuals in overcoming personal and social problems affecting their educational and employment goals.
  • Provide peer support services in the individual's home or community to support them during crises or relapses.
  • Model a successful recovery lifestyle and share personal experiences to build rapport and enhance quality of life.
  • Participate in staff meetings and other department and agency activities.
  • Represent CCFCS on appropriate committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human service or related field required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with persons with substance use, mental health disorder, and chronic health conditions.
  • If providing Peer supports, a current certification in Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA/CRPA-P) or a Certified Peer Specialist certification (NYCPS/NYCPS-P) is required.
  • Previous experience working with diverse populations, including low to moderate-income families.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
  • Willingness to foster cooperation and teamwork.
  • Continuous use of a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle.

  • Demonstrate ethical business practices and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adhere to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including confidentiality and privacy standards.
  • Complete a background check.
