A Peer Recovery Coach at this 24/7 Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) partners with a clinician and responds to mental health and substance use crisis anywhere in the community to individuals of any age. They use personal lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery to provide immediate, community-based crisis support. They work alongside clinicians to de-escalate and stabilize individuals in crisis, build trust, and connect individuals to services, promoting recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care.

What You Will Do

  • Requires a Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification and 2 years’ experience providing behavioral health services.
  • May be periodically assigned to take calls and screen calls for a mobile team’s response.
  • Requires the ability to perform in high-stress situations and have a commitment to trauma-informed care.

What You Bring To The Table (Must Have)

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Community Programs Peer staff must be certified prior to hire. Uncertified peers may be hired. These employees will have 120 days from the date of hire to obtain their certification. Failure to obtain certification within the 120-day period will result in termination of employment.
  • Two (2) years or part-time equivalent of experience supporting individuals with behavioral health challenges.
  • Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care.
  • Valid and current driver’s license, and personal vehicle insurance with your name listed as a driver.
  • Willingness to use the company vehicle to drive clients to appointments and groups, etc.

Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT)

MCRT is creating an opportunity for Clinicians, Case Manager Master’s, and Certified Peer Supports to intervene in a unique way that has never been done before in our system of care. This program collaborates and accepts referrals from County Access and Crisis Line (ACL) and law enforcement. MCRT will offer crisis triage and management, risk assessment, in-person intervention, and case management. Each team will respond to calls from the mobile crisis van to provide services directly in the field in San Joaquin County.
