Description

The School Social Worker or School Psychologist provides counseling, assessment, classroom support, mental health services, consultation, and family/community outreach for students receiving supportive services through Monroe One Educational Services. Low staff to student ratio to provide comprehensive academic, social, emotional and behavioral development through collaboration with education teams and adherence to NYS special education regulations.

Duties

  • Provide individual and group counseling services, social skills instruction, and mental health interventions based on student needs and IEP requirements.
  • Collaborate and consult with teachers, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including appropriate academic, social/emotional, and behavioral supports.
  • Deliver crisis intervention and counseling support for students as needed.
  • Lead social skills groups and affective education programming.
  • Collaborate with and provide outreach to families, caregivers, school districts, and community agencies to support student success.
  • Provide parent/caregiver support, resources, and education.
  • Contribute to program and department initiatives that promote social/emotional learning, positive behavior supports, and student well-being.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in School Social Work, or School Psychology from an accredited program.
  • NYS Provisional or Permanent Certification as a School Social Worker or School Psychologist.
  • Experience providing counseling, group interventions, and supportive mental health services to students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of NYS Special Education laws, regulations, and processes.
  • Training in crisis intervention strategies (e.g., TCI-S, LSI, or similar models) preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and consultation skills within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of family systems and community resources.
  • Expertise in assessment and/or intervention strategies, including use of appropriate tools (e.g., cognitive, achievement, behavioral, or adaptive assessments for psychologists).
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills appropriate to the role.
