Behavioral Health Intake Therapist
Job Summary
Counsels interviews and conducts behavioral health assessments for potential admissions including telehealth assessments.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements
- Provides admissions and intake services to patients and potential patients.
- Responds to telephone inquiries from persons seeking mental health care or information about mental health-related services.
- Facilitates admission of in-patients and out-patients based on physician orders.
- Captures and documents calls and related admission information.
- May staff crisis hotline as needed.
- Reviews all paperwork accompanying patients to ensure adherence to hospital and regulatory policies.
- Performs insurance verification and prior-authorization based on payor requirements.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Master's degree in Behavioral Health or related field. No experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
- Able to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Rare climbing.
