About the role
The Care Advocate performs telephonic clinical reviews with providers to ensure members receive effective outpatient behavioral health care, including psychotherapy and community-based treatments. This fully remote position involves assessing care appropriateness, shaping treatment plans in collaboration with providers, and administering benefits in accordance with coverage guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Conduct outpatient reviews for commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare behavioral health services
- Evaluate if member care aligns with coverage criteria
- Partner with providers to promote best practices in treatment
- Review and administer benefits and treatment plans
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted independent licensure in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage & Family Counseling
- 2+ years of behavioral health experience, including outpatient and community-based treatments
- Proficiency in MS Office and telehealth tools
- Strong communication skills for telephonic engagement
- Reliable high-speed internet and distraction-free home office setup
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-licensure outpatient mental health experience
- Experience with EMRs and managed care
- Utilization review and clinical assessment expertise
- Phone-based review experience and queue management skills
