About the role

The Behavioral Health Assistant, under the supervision of professional nursing personnel, assists and provides patient care utilizing standards of care. The position requires the ability to de-escalate crisis situations, maintain the milieu with a calm and professional approach, provide redirection, utilize de-escalation techniques, and conduct group activities with patients.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to de-escalate crisis situations.
  • Ability to work with culturally-diverse families and communities with cultural sensitivity, compassion, and non-judgmentality.
  • Ability to maintain the milieu with a calm and professional approach, provide redirection, utilize de-escalation techniques, and separate if necessary.
  • Works well under pressure and demonstrates a pleasant and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to conduct group activities with patients.

Skills

  • CPR certification within 6 months of start date in department/position.
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management certification within 6 months of start date in department/position.
  • Previous Behavioral Health experience OR enrolled in an associates or bachelors program.
