About the role

The Behavioral Health Assessor provides assessments for patients in the Advocate Emergency Department, Nursing Departments, Advocate Behavioral Health and Polk Medical Center. The Assessor provides a clean, safe, and quiet environment in support of the patient's comfort and contentment and performs duties associated with the assessment process, while collaborating with the psychiatrists, ED physicians, Hospitalist, and Medical Service physicians to determine treatment recommendations and patient disposition. The Behavioral Health Assessor works closely with the medical staff, and other hospital staff, who support care of the adult, child, adolescent, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assessments for patients in various departments
  • Ensures a clean, safe, and quiet environment for patients
  • Collaborates with medical staff to determine treatment recommendations and patient disposition
  • Works closely with the medical staff and other hospital staff to support patient care

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Master's level program in counseling, psychology, social work or related field
  • Experience in related field, two years of behavioral health counseling, and evidence of continuing professional development preferred

Qualifications

  • Licenses/Certifications: applicable state licenses encouraged (LCP, LCSW, or LPC eligible)

Skills

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of mental health assessment techniques

Pay

Base compensation listed within the listed pay range based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training

Premium pay such as shift, on call, and more based on a teammate's job

Opportunity for annual increases based on performance

Schedule

PRN schedule is variable and requires flexibility to cover 12-hour shifts, including both 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM start times.
