Behavior Technician

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with children and their families with trust and care.
  • Implement learning programs, collect data on target behaviors, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Regularly meet with a Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement individualized behavioral intervention plans.
  • Engage actively with children using evidence-based techniques, including physical activities such as standing, walking, sitting, grasping, reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, squatting, lifting, and carrying children or objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain a CPR, First Aid Certification, and Tuberculosis test (if applicable).
  • One year experience working with children ages 0-18 in a daycare, classroom setting.
  • One year experience working one-on-one with clients in a behavioral health environment.

  • Patience and compassion with the ability to work well in a team environment.

Skills

  • Ability to adapt teaching techniques to various physical and mental behaviors.
  • Use evidence-based techniques to engage actively with children.
  • Perform physical activities such as standing, walking, sitting, grasping, reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, squatting, lifting, and carrying children or objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Pay

  • Starting hourly rate between $15-$18, increasing based on experience, certification level, and highest level of education.
