Position Overview

The Behavioral Technician supports the implementation of behavioral support services for individuals receiving care through APluscare. Working under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and the clinical team, this role assists in carrying out behavior intervention strategies designed to improve the quality of life and daily functioning of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aid in the implementation of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and other behavioral interventions developed by the BCBA and clinical team.
  • Support individuals in residential and community settings by promoting positive behavioral strategies and reinforcing appropriate behaviors.
  • Observe and document behavioral patterns, progress, and responses to interventions in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records related to behavioral services and client progress.
  • Communicate relevant observations and updates to the supervising BCBA and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in team meetings, including Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings, as requested.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors regarding the effectiveness of behavioral strategies and any concerns related to client support needs.
  • Assist residential and program staff with implementing behavioral strategies during daily activities.
  • Respond appropriately to behavioral challenges using approved intervention techniques and agency procedures.
  • Follow all Department of Human Services (DHS) and Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) regulations and guidelines when providing services.
  • Support continuity of care by working collaboratively with staff, clinical professionals, and family members when appropriate.
  • Attend required trainings and maintain competency in behavioral support techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by APluscare leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is preferred.
  • Ability to follow and implement behavioral intervention plans under professional supervision.
  • Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and diverse populations.
  • Caregiving, compassionate, patient, and professional approach when working with individuals receiving services.

Additional Requirements

  • Must cooperate with licensing authorities and regulatory staff during inspections or investigations.
  • Must successfully complete all required agency and DHS/DDD training programs.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.

Work Environment

This position involves working in residential and community-based program settings and may include travel between service locations. Behavioral Technicians may be required to support individuals during daily activities and assist during behavioral challenges in accordance with approved intervention protocols.
