Behavior Support Specialist

About the role

This role is ideal for compassionate professionals who are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of others while working in a structured, collaborative environment. This position is responsible for providing direct and indirect behavioral intervention and consultation to consumers, family, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs individualized treatment by adhering to applicable county, state and federal standard regulations when developing an individualized treatment plan, individual service plan, and/or treatment goals for consumers; programming and data analysis in order to monitor consumer progress.
  • Provides treatment of the whole person by providing service and supervision in collaboration with all team members involved with the consumer, and with the understanding that treatment of the whole person is crucial.
  • Consults with all members of the treatment team to ensure plan participation by training and consulting with all members of the treatment team to ensure full understanding of purpose objectives, methods, and documentation of the treatment plan, behavioral support plan and/or individual service plan.
  • Maintains assigned, planned schedule by following program guidelines to ensure regular service provision and maintenance of caseload, per agreement with program supervisor.
  • Supports on-going and future business needs by completing other duties, as assigned, to effectively support business priorities and processes.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education, ABA or similar human services field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in either a CASSP service system or employed by a licensed mental health services agency or subcontracted agency.
  • Completed training in conducting and using a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), and in positive behavioral support.

  • Must be proficient in use of electronic health record system; must be proficient in completion of psychosocial assessments; must be able to make sound decisions to support consumers in a calm and timely manner; must be able to utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities based upon consumer needs, and react quickly to prevent consumer injury or injury to another due to consumer behavior.
