Behavior Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Provide behavioral support and intervention for students.
• Implement and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans.
• Offer one-on-one or small group support for behavior issues.
• Respond to and manage crisis situations involving students.
• Coach teachers on behavior management strategies.
• Train staff in behavior intervention techniques and safety practices.
• Supervise students during transitions and daily activities.
• Guide students in developing interpersonal skills and problem-solving strategies.
• Maintain and track records of student behavior and progress.
• Collaborate with behavior intervention teams and participate in Student of Concern (SOC) meetings.
• Adhere to health, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
• Manage reporting of child abuse and neglect cases.

Additional Duties

• Participate in workshops and meetings to stay updated on best practices.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Relevant job-related education or 60 hours of college credit.
• Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is preferred.
• Data tracking, behavior intervention, de-escalation techniques, and record-keeping skills.
• Knowledge of child development, behavior management, safety procedures, and relevant regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, solve problems, and work with diverse individuals.
