About the role
Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. Located at our school in Red Hook, Dutchess County, NY, this position is responsible for providing direction and mentorship to Education staff relative to behavioral strategies, and maintaining order and appropriate behavior by addressing students' actions and encouraging/reinforcing positive behavior.
Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of each residents' whereabouts to ensure attendance at activities.
- Counsel residents as necessary.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Avoid dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants or other chemical or controlled substances.
- Significant, prolonged, and frequent amounts of walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and lifting of 70 lbs. or more.
- Use standard crisis intervention procedures to single-handedly effect the initial restraint of children and adolescents weighing between 75 and 150 lbs.
- Exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- RBT Certification preferred.
- At least two years experience working with I/DD individuals in an educational or residential setting, one of which shall be in a crisis intervention-type position.
Qualifications

Skills
- Ability to provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Knowledge of behavioral strategies and ability to maintain order and appropriate behavior.
- Ability to counsel residents and maintain knowledge of residents' whereabouts.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform physical tasks.

Pay
(Commensurate with education and experience)
- With HS Diploma/GED: $22.50 - $24.08 per hour.
- With BA/BS: $23.50 - $25.15 per hour.
- With MA/MS or higher: $24.50 - $26.22 per hour.
Schedule
Monday through Friday daytime schedule.
