Behavior Health Technician

About the role

The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program at The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh provides comprehensive and holistic services for children with autism and related disorders between the ages of 18 months to 21 years old. We offer a range of programs, including both individual and Group Therapy to best meet the needs of each child. We provide individual and group ABA services in a clinical setting. Parent training is a key part of our program and can occur in person in the clinic or via telehealth. The ABA program collaborates directly with in-house speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, behavioral health, and nutrition/feeding programs where appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Provide interventions and procedures as prescribed in the individualized treatment plan including reinforcement, extinction, verbal behavior intensive teaching, discrete trial training, Natural Environment training.
• Provide 1:1 or group ABA services in home and community-like setting.
• Complete billing, documentation, and trainings/supervision within specified timeframes.
• Provide crisis intervention when needed (training will be provided).
• Maintain data collection procedures outlined in treatment plan and per BCBA instruction.
• Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy when interacting with clients and families.
• Meet productivity targets for billable service delivery.
• Provide Telehealth services including partial telehealth in which services are delivered in-person and clinical oversight is delivered via telehealth.
• Direct telehealth in which services are delivered by the BHT via interactive video.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with clients aged 2-21 years with ASD diagnosis.
• Two years experience working as a behavioral health technician preferred.
• Experience with telehealth and group services preferred.
• Act 73 FBI, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, Act 33 Child Clearance.
• Current and valid certification in CPR and First Aid is required (CI will provide training).

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday (Clinic Hours Vary). BHTs work a weekly schedule that includes two 10-hour shifts, two 8-hour shifts, and one 4-hour shift on Friday. Ten-hour shifts are from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and eight-hour shifts are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Friday shift: 8:30 AM–12:30 PM. Please note that late shifts are not guaranteed on specific days and may vary.
