About the role

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all animals have a clean-living environment, drinking water, and food as per feeding instructions.
  • Report health concerns to veterinary staff.
  • Perform a high level of animal care and customer care.
  • Participate in behavior and enrichment programs.
  • Observe animal appearance and activity for any behavioral or medical changes or concerns.
  • Administer vaccinations and medications when needed.
  • Document information about animals and facility operations per standard procedures.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to volunteers, community service workers, and other staff.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and response teams.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience performing technical or administrative work assisting in an environmental public health specific to the assignment.
  • Valid Driver's License at the time of application.
  • Euthanasia certification, or ability to be euthanasia certified at the Shelter within six months.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in busy work environment where business needs may quickly change.
  • Self-motivated and well-organized.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Commitment to science-based, fear-free handling and training methods.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $23.89 - $35.84.

Schedule

The Behavior and Care Technician II works a variety of shifts including 4/10’s and 5/8’s shifts, with opening shifts from 6:30AM – 3:00PM, mid-shifts from 8:30AM – 5:00PM, and closing shifts from 8:30AM – 5:00PM (Saturday-Sunday) and 10:30AM – 7:00PM (Monday-Friday) for 5/8’s shifts, and evening shifts from 6:30AM – 5:00PM (Saturday-Sunday, 8:30AM-7:00PM Monday-Friday) for 4/10’s shifts. Overtime may be required depending on business needs.
