About the role
The Before Care Coordinator oversees and coordinates the before-school care program, ensuring a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for students before the start of the school day. Staff arrival is at 7:15 AM, with student entry from 7:15 AM to 7:50 AM. Students transition to their homeroom at 8:00 AM.
Responsibilities
- Program Management: Plan and implement age-appropriate activities for students. Ensure the program operates smoothly and efficiently, including breakfast management. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
- Supervision and Leadership: Supervise before care staff, providing guidance and support. Schedule staff shifts and manage attendance records. Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions.
- Student Engagement: Welcome students as they arrive and ensure they are engaged in activities. Monitor student behavior and implement disciplinary measures when necessary. Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including emergency procedures. Conduct regular safety checks of the facility and equipment. Maintain accurate records of student attendance and incidents.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with parents, addressing any concerns or questions. Coordinate with school administration and teachers regarding student needs. Provide regular updates on the program’s activities and progress.
- Administrative Duties: Assist in the enrollment process and maintain updated student information (e.g., roster and attendance management). Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED).
- 1 year of experience in childcare.
- 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
- Spanish-speaking preferred.
