Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes all tasks assigned by director, assistant director, or leader.
  • Follows procedures as stated in the ECS Procedures Manual.
  • Participates and plays with students in structured and unstructured activities.
  • Maintains safe conditions for students and staff.
  • Follows and enforces program discipline policies and procedures.
  • Aids in maintenance, proper storage, and repair of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Contributes ideas for enrichment activities, curriculum, and program quality.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication with parents, students, school staff, and coworkers.
  • Fulfills district policies and goals while using district facilities with care.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Works directly under the supervision of the director, assistant director, or leader.
  • Each year of employment requires completion of at least 15 clock hours of training.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must hold a current First Aid and CPR certification or be able to obtain one within 30 days.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work with school age children.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.

Prior Certifications and Licenses

  • N/A

Prior Experience

  • Experience working in a paid licensed child-care program.
  • Experience working as a teaching assistant/para-educator or licensed teacher.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Strength level: Light work (lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds).
  • Work environment: Occasional lifting, pulling, and/or pushing; frequent bending, reaching, climbing; visual concentration; squatting.
  • Work with others.
