About the role

The Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Beach and Park Manager - Miami Beach and Rocky Point Beach Summer Seasonal Employment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, schedule, and train Assistant Beach Managers, lifeguards, and cashiers.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for the proper functioning of the facility.
  • Monitor cashiers and verify daily transactions, reports, and deposits.
  • Make bank deposits.
  • Supervise rentals of watersports equipment.
  • Supervise and lead programs.
  • Deal with customers as situations arise.
  • Safeguard swimmers and non-swimmers using beach and park facilities.
  • Enforce swimming and facility rules and regulations for the public.
  • Keep facilities clean and free from hazards.
  • Alert patrons to changing weather and water conditions.
  • Perform routine tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by May 1, 2026.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays throughout the summer and have days off on weekdays.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Facilities are not located on public transportation lines.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, physical, and drug test.
  • Three (3) years of lifeguarding experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in customer service is preferred.

Conditions of Employment

  • Seasonal Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.
  • Seasonal positions are not included in the Employees' Benefits Plan.
  • Applicants having the ability to work the entire season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, will be considered first.

  • Sick Leave - Monthly sick leave earnings prorated based on the number of hours worked per week. No maximum on accrual. Accrued balance can be applied toward service credit at retirement.
  • Vacation Leave - Monthly vacation leave earnings prorated based on the number of hours worked per week. Earnings increase after five, ten and fifteen years of service generally.
  • Holidays - Part-time 30 to 39 hour non-merit or non-classified employees will generally be paid for ten holidays per calendar year. Other part-time, non-merit or non-classified employees working 29 hours per week or less will receive two paid holidays per calendar year. These holidays are the Christmas holiday and the Independence Day holiday.
