About the role
Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain a full system design and its associated documentation (CAD, drawings, ICDs, BOMs, etc.)
- Provide technical support during flight build, test, and delivery to other areas of the technical execution team
- Work closely with the program and manufacturing team through build, test, and delivery of flight hardware
- Support the development of the Automated Test Equipment and transition of the product from development to production release
- Support the development of the hardware requirements, test plans and procedures in compliance with company and industry standards
- Serve as the subject matter expert for integration into the vehicle and assist in troubleshooting and vehicle integration
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of direct experience in battery development, 3+ years in space applications desired
- Direct experience with Battery Design, Test, and Manufacturing
- Familiarity with lithium-ion batteries and battery test methods
- Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the mechanical assembly product lifecycle
- Highly organized team player with excellent technical communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
- Travel: About 20% travel is expected between Grandview, MO and the Seattle, WA area
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering or related field
- Experience in development of spacecraft, satellite systems or high-performance aircraft systems
- Experience across multiple portions of the product life cycle
- Experience with safety-critical systems development (automotive, aerospace, medical, etc.)
Skills
- Experience with high-voltage (>50V) spacecraft design
- Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential

Pay
Base Pay Range For WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45
