Position Summary
Reporting to the Branch Service Manager, the Battery Service Technician is responsible for maintenance, service and support of specific batteries and equipment, at the customer location in a timely and cost-effective manner so that customer requirements are met. This position must also promote service maintenance programs and the dealership in general, and provide complete customer satisfaction in a polite and professional manner.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Pick-up and deliver batteries and chargers, install new batteries, chargers and related equipment.
- Travel to customer site, diagnose, trouble-shoot and repair customer's battery equipment in accordance with established guidelines and procedures, maintaining positive customer relations.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on assigned equipment according to schedule, established procedures, and cost guidelines at customer facilities.
- Complete all required paperwork and time records accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner.
- Maintain company supplied service van and uniforms in a clean and organized fashion as well as maintaining an accurate inventory of tools and parts.
- Drive and work safely in accordance with company and/or customer safety policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain positive, effective working relationship with customers and coworkers.
- Work with service dispatcher and manager to maximize labor revenue and efficiency within the work schedule while accounting for 100% of work time.
- Maintain service van interior equipment, storage devices, service manuals and related documents.
- Attend meetings, training classes, and other company activities as required.
- Maintain uniforms in order to look neat and professional at all times.
- Report all accidents, injuries, safety violations and unsafe working conditions immediately.
- Keep an adequate set of personal tools as required by supervisor at all times.
- Work with all departments and employees to ensure the best possible customer experience.
- Operate a lift truck for testing and demonstrations, in line with correct operation instructions.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
- Communicate in a professional manner while showing respect to our customers and other company personnel.
- Demonstrate good judgment and personal attitude, which are essential to maintaining our company's reputation for results orientated service, good will and professionalism.
- Perform job duties in a variety of work environments due to the diverse range of customers we service. This may include a wide range of temperatures, various conditions, outdoor work, etc.
- Travel out of town and stay overnight, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to three years' relevant experience and/or training preferred.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and general equipment operation theory.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic and hydraulic diagrams and schematics.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Maintain a clean driving record.
- DOT certification (exam arranged by company) will be a pre-employment requirement.
