About the role

Zero Gravity Basketball Operations Co-Op is a 3-month (September–November) paid position based in either the Syracuse, NY area or the Greater Philadelphia area. The Basketball Ops Co-Op works under Zero Gravity leadership and regional directors to plan and implement weekly events and tournaments. The program provides a fully immersive experience in all aspects of sports business and serves as a launchpad for careers in grassroots sports, collegiate athletics, and professional organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and organizing weekend basketball tournaments throughout the Mid-Atlantic region (PA, DE, & NJ).
  • Manage pre-event logistics: team scheduling, venue coordination, staffing, and equipment preparation.
  • Communicate with major customers and sell event/tournament slots.
  • Work with Zero Gravity leadership on market strategy: setting season schedules, projecting facility needs, and implementing new market strategies.
  • Register and collect payments from customers on a weekly basis.
  • Run Zero Gravity social media channels.
  • Drive revenue growth by building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Coordinate with venues for event setup and breakdown each week.
  • Improve the part-time event staff list and assist in staffing facilities weekly, training staff in ticket sales, scorekeeping, site directing, etc.
  • Travel to weekend events (primarily Saturday/Sunday) to support operations: team check-in, site management, and customer service.
  • Communicate with coaches, referees, and facility staff to ensure smooth tournament operations.
  • Record and update live scores, standings, and brackets during events.
  • Act as on-site lead at Zero Gravity events and tournaments throughout the fall season.

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate or current senior pursuing a degree in Sport Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience as a Graduate Assistant or Student-Manager on a Men’s or Women’s basketball staff is a plus.
  • Strong desire and ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in event operations or facility management.
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills; ability to multitask.
  • Self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior event management experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and travel frequently to various East Coast locations.
