Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
• 1 Reference Letter (does not apply to current CCPS staff)
• Current Florida Educator Certification or Athletic Coaching Certification
  • Coaches who hold current teaching certification do not need to obtain athletic coaching certification
• Basic Life Support Program (First Aid, CPR and AED)

Certification Details

The Florida Department of Education issues two types of Athletic Coaching Certificates:

• 3-Year Temporary Certificate (issued only to give a coach the opportunity to complete the requirements for the 5-Year Certificate; not renewable)
• 5-Year Athletic Coaching Certificate

Who needs certification?

• Coaches who are paid a supplement from the school District but do not hold a Temporary or Professional Educator Certificate
• Volunteer Coaches who are employees of the Collier County Public Schools but do not hold a Temporary or Professional Educator’s Certification
