Job Summary

EMCOR Services Automated Controls is seeking a Building Automation System (BAS) Hardware Engineer to join our growing automation design team. This role supports projects in the commercial and industrial markets, focusing on system design, installation, and maintenance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend project turnover meetings with the sales and project team.
  • Design building automation systems and create project submittals/shop drawings using construction plans and specifications.
  • Identify gaps or ambiguities in the project and submit Request for Information (RFI) as required.
  • Establish and maintain unique customer standards in design/build and plan/spec markets.
  • With experience, mentor new employees and assist in their growth.
  • Write control sequences and coordinate design intent with programmers.
  • Provide operational and technical support/direction to field operations and subcontractors.
  • Obtain field markups and revise shop drawings with any changes for owner records.
  • Maintain backups of all project documentation including record drawings on construction management software program.
  • Develop strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Engineering Manager / Project Manager with recommendation for resolution.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed.

Qualifications

  • PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree in related engineering/technology field required, bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred. In lieu of a degree, a combination of verifiable DDC specific training and two or more years of experience will be considered. DDC or PLC design experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of low voltage electrical wiring.
  • Experience in engineering, design, or installation/service of HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), advanced experience with spreadsheets, familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs, familiarity with building architecture and computer networks, and familiarity with third-party equipment integration over protocols such as BACnet/Modbus.
  • Programming experience is a plus.
