BARTENDER - SCHAR BAR

About the role

The Bartender position at Schar Bar within the JW Marriott Reston Station Hotel is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team. As a key member of the bar staff, you will be responsible for maintaining the bar’s proper setup, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis.
• Requisitions and stocks all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce based on projections from the daily functions sheet.
• Maintains stock, cuts, and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
• Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks.
• Mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practices prudent portion control.
• Abides by all State, Federal, and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
• Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
• Receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and ensures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all money.
• Locks up and stores all beverage, food, and other equipment items, deposits cash drops, and secures bank.
• Complies with attendance rules and is available to work on a regular basis.
• Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate in English.
• Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
• Ability to meet standards of appearance.
• Communicates well with guests.
• Able to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift.
• Willing to “pitch-in” and help coworkers with their job duties and be a team player.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a similar role preferred.

Skills

• Knowledge of standard cocktail recipes.
• Ability to handle cash and credit card transactions.
• Good customer service skills.
• Ability to follow safety and security protocols.
