About the Role
Take orders, prepare, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and light meals to guests courteously and efficiently according to hotel standards. Maintain stock, supplies, and cleanliness of the outlet and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Master all menu items, liquor brands, beer, non-alcoholic selections, and respective prices.
- Know the characteristics and descriptions of every wine, champagne, and major wines on the list.
- Understand designated glassware, ingredients, preparation methods, and garnishes for each drink.
- Know table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, and hours of operation for the bar.
- Maintain knowledge of correct equipment use and maintenance.
- Obtain and secure assigned bank, ensuring accuracy of contracted monies.
- Complete opening side duties, including checking quality and quantity of bar stock and supplies.
- Requisition necessary supplies and transport them from storeroom to bar.
- Stock ice, bottles, garnishes, glassware, and paper supplies.
- Prepare mixes and check the condition of tools like blenders and shakers.
- Monitor temperature of refrigeration units and glass wash machine.
- Inspect cleanliness and condition of bar, guest, and service areas; rectify deficiencies.
- Greet guests, take orders (food and beverage), and use suggestive/upselling techniques.
- Call orders into Room Service and ensure accurate entry into the P.O.S. system.
- Prepare and serve drink orders according to outlet recipes.
- Open and serve wine/champagne bottles.
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and maintain positive guest relations.
- Handle guest complaints following six-step procedures to ensure satisfaction.
- Answer outlet telephone within 3 rings using correct greeting and etiquette.
- Be familiar with all hotel services, features, and local attractions to respond to guest inquiries.
Pay
Pay range: $20.70 - $23.00 per hour, plus tips. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
