About the role
As a Bartender at Silver Gulch Brewing & Bottling in Fox, Alaska, you will represent the establishment by providing extraordinary customer service, ensuring consistent drink quality, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
- Deliver world-class service to every guest.
- Greet each guest promptly and maintain a clean, sanitary work area, including bar surfaces, floors, and visible guest areas.
- Obtain and maintain an Alaska Food Handlers Card and TAPs card, adhering to all state alcohol regulations (e.g., checking IDs, limiting service to two drinks per guest at a time, avoiding over-serving).
- Stock the bar with garnishes, supplies, glassware, and liquor, and maintain the beer cooler.
- Follow proper handwashing procedures after handling food, using the restroom, or eating.
- Operate the Squirrel POS system, process payments, and follow cash-out procedures (e.g., organizing receipts, verifying tips).
- Check out with a manager before clocking out.
- Adhere to the Silver Gulch Dress Code and Service Standards Packet.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of directly related food preparation experience.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Dedication to exceeding customer expectations.
- Reliable transportation, well-groomed appearance, and good hygiene.
- Sufficient language skills to read instructions, write reports, and communicate effectively with customers and staff.
- Basic mathematical skills for calculating discounts, proportions, and percentages.
- Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.
- Ability to delegate responsibilities and work effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand for long periods, use hands, reach with arms, taste, and smell.
- Frequently walk, talk, or hear; occasionally sit or stoop.
- Regularly lift up to 30 lbs.
- Specific vision requirements: close vision, depth perception, color vision, and peripheral vision.
- Work in moderate noise levels and exposure to extreme heat, cold, and moving mechanical parts.
- Physical stamina to work 8- to 12-hour shifts for extended periods.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The employer reserves the right to revise or change job duties. Employees may be required to work varying hours, overtime, rotating shifts, or in different departments to meet business demands.
