The Embassy Suites by Hilton Dulles Airport hotel offers all-suite accommodations in Herndon, VA, less than 3 miles from Washington Dulles International Airport and 25 miles west of Washington, D.C.

About the role

This position is responsible for preparing and serving beverages to guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner at Marty's Bar & Grille, the hotel’s F&B outlet located in a stunning six-story atrium. The bar is open for breakfast and dinner 7 days a week. The role ensures adherence to health regulations, local liquor laws, and brand standards to deliver exceptional guest service and create an inviting atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Guest Service/Point of Sale:
    • Greets all guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
    • Accurately and quickly takes, prepares, and delivers beverage orders according to standards.
    • Responds to guest needs and provides high-quality service.
    • Operates the micros operating system and cash register efficiently.
    • Follows all cash handling and POS procedures to ensure accurate closing of guest checks.
  • Bartender Duties:
    • Dispenses appropriate levels of alcohol and prepares drinks to recipe and brand standards.
    • Ensures proper use of equipment and adheres to cost controls to reduce expenses and waste.
    • Checks guests’ identification and monitors alcohol consumption to comply with state and local liquor laws.
    • Assists other associates to meet guest needs.
  • Bussing/Cleaning:
    • Disposes of garbage, picks up trays, re-stocks barware, and clears/wipes down the bar.
    • Transfers dirty glassware to the dish room and polishes clean glassware.
  • Paperwork:
    • Completes all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Handles beginning and end-of-shift inventory and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Safety/Risk Management:
    • Maintains a clean and safe work area and handles all beverages/food in compliance with regulations.
    • Ensures sanitation and cleanliness of the bar and storeroom.
    • Follows procedures for guest and associate incidents and is knowledgeable of hotel emergency protocols.
  • Self/Workload Management:
    • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work duties to meet required volume.
    • Adheres to grooming, appearance, and general work standards.
    • Attends all required department and hotel meetings and follows attendance policies.
  • Miscellaneous/Other Duties:
    • Completes all required side work and takes initiative to assist wherever necessary.
    • Works as a team player to contribute to the success of the guest experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • TIPS or CARE beverage service certification desired; ability to obtain certification is required.
  • One or more years of previous bartending experience or Bartender certification.
  • Exemplary customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to speak, understand, and write English to meet guest needs and complete paperwork.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Physically demanding role requiring continuous walking, standing, carrying, and moving throughout the shift.

Pay

$13 per hour + tips
