About the Role
To serve beverages and/or food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, ensuring guest satisfaction. Additionally, prepare beverages for other servers, act as a cashier for the lounge, and take room service orders.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests courteously and promote/document drink orders.
- Mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard recipes while practicing portion control.
- Maintain proper bar setup daily, including requisitioning and stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce based on daily projections.
- Maintain stock, cut, and store fresh fruit, vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables to ensure product quality.
- Handle cash transactions, make change, verify charges, record transactions, and balance moneys.
- Lock up and store beverages, food, and equipment; deposit cash drops and secure the bank.
- Answer the bar phone within three rings and take room service orders courteously and accurately.
- Input orders into the register, create guest checks, and maintain accountability for all beverages served.
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to adhere to health standards.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety, and security procedures.
- Follow fire prevention and emergency procedures, utilize protective equipment, and report unsafe conditions or accidents to a supervisor.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance as outlined in the team member handbook.
- Assist other beverage personnel as needed and perform related duties as requested by a supervisor/manager.
Requirements
- Knowledge of all state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations regarding serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
- Hold a current Food Handler Card.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of alcoholic beverages.
- Basic mathematical skills for operating a cash register, making change, totaling guest checks, counting banks, and preparing cash drops.
- Basic English language writing skills for completing requisitions and vouchers.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to handle knives, glassware, bottles, ice, and mix drinks.
- Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions safely.
- Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
- Ability to operate beverage equipment (e.g., coffee maker).
- Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through crowded areas continuously during the shift.
Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 30 pounds maximum.
- Constant standing and walking required.
- Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.
