Responsibilities

• Clean stalls and replace straw in stalls daily after training hours and prep stalls before racing.
• Level and water down shed row in both receiving and test barns.
• Repair stalls with clay base and placing rubber mats on top.
• Coordinate supply and delivery of straw for inventory.
• Clean barn area of trash.
• Coordinate with backstretch manager which stalls are to be used for horses shipping in.
• Keep inventory of tools and supplies.

Requirements

• Must have 1 year maintenance experience in stall maintenance.

Qualifications

• Must qualify for licensing by the West Virginia Racing Commission.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license for the state in which you reside.
• Must have OSHA certification on machinery used by Track Maintenance.
• Physical demands: regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; frequently stand, walk, and sit; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Skills

• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems
