Barista - Starbucks - Seasonal

Position Responsibilities

• Welcome customers by determining their coffee interests and needs.
• Educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions.
• Sell coffees and coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.
• Prepare and sell coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as espresso, espresso lungo, cafe latte, and cappuccino.
• Generate revenues by attracting new customers; defining new and expanded services and products.
• Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar.
• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and redesigning processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading coffee, retail trade, and food service publications; maintaining personal networks.
• Enhance coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Essential Functions

• Exposure to casino related environmental factors including but not limited to secondhand smoke, excessive noise, and stress related to servicing customers in a high pressure and fast paced environment
• Must be able to stand for an entire shift and be able to move throughout the Casino/Hotel areas
• Repetitive finger and wrist motion (keyboard data entry) as well as prolonged viewing of data on a computer monitor
• Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts and/or unusual hours
• Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent GED preferred
• At least 1+ year in the coffee service industry
• Ability to communicate with customers and team members in a clear and concise manner
• Superior customer service skills with the ability to manage difficult customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs and requests
• Ability to effectively communicate in English
