About the role

MWR Kodiak Bowling Alley is seeking a Barista to join our dynamic team. This position is located at U.S Coast Guard Base Kodiak and involves preparing and serving a variety of coffee and espresso drinks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve made-to-order espresso, other beverages, snacks and food items.
• Set up food service counters and side service stands with hot and cold food and beverages, including desserts and condiments.
• Aid customers in selecting and purchasing specialty coffee beverages and whole bean sales.
• Ensure quality beverages and food products are served consistently according to established standards.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to promote associated products.
• Clean and maintain equipment and the customer service area in a clean and appealing manner.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as per established checklists and schedules.
• Follow store policies and procedures for operational flow, merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing all products.
• Operate cash register and manage own change fund.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Sweep, mop, and wax floors. Dispose of food wastes and trash.

Qualifications

• Experience with common sanitation standards in preparation, handling, and serving of food and beverages.
• Ability to read and understand written material and follow instructions.
• Ability to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate and/or complete Food Handler’s Training.
• Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds and stand, walk, stoop, reach, pull, and bend for long periods.
• Previous work experience in food service or related industries is preferred.
