Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Barista/Bartender for The Vanguard Hotel in Ann Arbor, MI. The Barista/Bartender plays a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by expertly preparing and serving a variety of coffee beverages and alcoholic drinks. This position requires a blend of hospitality, technical skill, and product knowledge to ensure each guest receives personalized and high-quality service. The role involves maintaining a clean and organized workspace, managing inventory, and adhering to health and safety standards. The successful candidate will contribute to a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat visits and positive word-of-mouth. Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee drinks and cocktails according to established recipes and guest preferences.
- Engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner to provide recommendations and ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar and coffee station, including equipment maintenance and sanitation.
- Manage inventory levels, restock supplies, and communicate needs to management to ensure smooth operations.
- Comply with all health, safety, and alcohol service regulations to provide a safe environment for guests and staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School diploma / Secondary qualification or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of drink preparation and applicable health standards.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, ordinances and regulations and Company policy regarding serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated patrons.
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Ability to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic computational ability.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good knowledge of the hotel, its services and facilities.
- Familiarity with all menu items.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate all equipment related to the outlet, including, but not limited to, coffee maker and cash terminal.
- Ability to work indoors in moderate, controlled temperatures and in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
- Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours.
- Ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously in limited space.
- Ability to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to bend, squat and lift 40 lbs on a regular and continuing basis and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment, including cutlery used in cutting of fruit.
- Alcohol Awareness Certification and Food Handlers Certification.
