Responsibilities

• Welcome customers by determining their coffee interests and needs
• Educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions
• Prepare and sell coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, caffe latte, and cappuccino
• Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar
• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; and reporting needed repairs to manager
• Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and sanitation regulations
• Collect and process payments from the customer including cash, credit and debit cards and room charges
• Display merchandise in an attractive and functional manner
• Maintain clean and hygienic work area
• Enhance coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process
• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Most tasks are performed independently or in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader. There is minimal direct supervision
• High volume experience with coffee making equipment
• Working knowledge of all forms of coffee and standard beverage recipes
• Basic numeracy and money-handling skills
• Able to stand for long hours
• Able to lift and carry moderate amounts of weight
• Has a sincere desire to exceed guest expectations
• Flexibility in their scheduling
