Bar & Operations Manager

Rising Sun Presents has recently taken ownership of the historic 8x10 music club, a 300-capacity independent venue in Baltimore’s Federal Hill neighborhood, re-opening October 2026. This role is expected to start September 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly bar inventory (beer, wine, liquor), including ordering, picking up, stocking, and ensuring the inventory sheet is accurate in correspondence with accounting periods.
• Ensure the beverage program is physically organized and stocked weekly while working with the General Manager to maintain purchase budgets.
• Work with the General Manager to ensure Bar COGS hit benchmarks (liquor 16%, beer 18%, wine 20%).
• Build and maintain relationships with beverage vendors.
• Manage the hiring, training, and scheduling of bartenders and bar support employees.
• Ensure bartender and bar support SOPs are in place and followed.
• Ensure bartender and bar support shifts meet the operational needs of the business weekly.
• Manage floor responsibilities during service to ensure an excellent customer experience.
• Supervise and coach all hourly employees during service.
• Ensure bar hygiene and create a bar cleaning schedule.
• Input the tip matrix at the end of the night.
• Conduct cash handling at the end of the night to reconcile cash sales.
• Send out the End of Night report when closing the venue.
• Close out bartenders, security, support, and box office staff as applicable.
• Ensure juices, syrups, and other perishables are dated, fresh, and ready for service.
• Ensure quality control of the beverage and food programs.
• Troubleshoot repair and maintenance (R&M) items.
• Conduct venue supply orders to ensure items are stocked.
• Secure the venue and lock up at the end of the night.
• Work with the General Manager to hold staff accountable for job responsibilities and operational needs.
• Collaborate with the General Manager on quarterly seasonal menu changes for the beverage program.
• Execute organized quarterly beverage menu changes.
• Assist with general miscellaneous tasks for the 8x10.
