About the role

The Bar Manager at Craft and Crew focuses on bar operations, employee management, sales building, vendor relations, and ensuring guest satisfaction for bar guests. This role oversees all areas of the restaurant, including the service floor, host stand, expo line, bar, and kitchen during shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all restaurant areas during shifts, making decisions on matters of importance.
  • Oversee and direct employees in various positions, providing coaching during volume hours.
  • Uphold Craft & Crew standards for quality food and service to ensure 100% guest satisfaction.
  • Adhere to company standards to increase sales and minimize costs (e.g., food, liquor, labor, supplies).
  • Monitor labor costs and adjust staffing as needed based on business volume.
  • Ensure positive guest experiences and respond to complaints to foster repeat business.
  • Assist in developing assistant managers and supervisors to handle guest issues.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and mentorship to employees for skill development.
  • Interview, hire, supervise, and discipline hourly employees.
  • Assist in training new hires and conduct 90-day performance evaluations.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and maintain open communication with staff.
  • Complete quarterly performance evaluations for all department staff.
  • Create and post bar team schedules at least 5 days in advance using labor goals and staffing guidelines.
  • Manage daily shifts, ensuring quality food, beverage, service, and cleanliness standards.
  • Understand and supervise food and beverage costs, portion control, and waste minimization.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment, completing accident investigations as needed.
  • Resolve operational issues creatively (e.g., product substitution, staffing adjustments).
  • Maintain restaurant cleanliness, professional appearance, and uniform standards.
  • Enforce food safety and sanitary practices, ensuring compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Maintain ServSafe manager certification (training provided if needed).
  • Oversee bar operations, including guest service, cleanliness, organization, and profitability.
  • Train bartenders, manage schedules, conduct reviews, and hold department meetings.
  • Build sales through promotions, events, and vendor relations.
  • Manage weekly inventory updates, liquor orders, glassware, and bar supplies.
  • Maintain bar equipment, including cooler cleaning, draft system maintenance, and line cleaning.
  • Keep the General Manager informed of all significant issues and take corrective action as needed.
  • Foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate to promote high morale and productivity.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in the industry with 1+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with computers (MS Office).
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform all restaurant functions (e.g., hosting, serving, bartending, cooking).
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, twist, and use repetitive movements.
  • Work in hot/cold temperatures and with hazardous equipment/conditions.
  • Operate phones, walkie-talkies, computers, tablets, and other equipment.

Schedule

  • 40–45 hours on-site per week, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Availability for off-hours phone calls (up to 3–5 hours/week).
  • Must fill in for other managers or emergencies as needed.
