About the role
The Banquet Waiter is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests during catered events. The waiter will work closely with the Event Captain and other team members to ensure all aspects of the event are executed smoothly, from setup to breakdown.
Responsibilities
- Event Preparation and Setup: Coordinate with the Booking Manager regarding event assignments and check emails regularly for updates or changes.
- Arrive at events on time, dressed in the appropriate attire as specified for the event (e.g., tuxedo, formal wear, or black attire).
- Bring necessary tools, including a wine opener, ice scoop, and matches, to each event.
- Set up the event space according to the Event Captain’s instructions, which may include arranging tables, buffet stations, service areas, and bars.
- Service Responsibilities: Follow the Event Captain’s instructions for all aspects of service, including the delivery of food and beverages to guests.
- Serve guests in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring that the event’s service style (e.g., buffet, plated dinner) is executed smoothly.
- Address any questions or concerns by communicating directly with the Event Captain, rather than other team members or sales staff.
- Ensure the bar, buffet, or service stations remain open until the Event Captain provides approval to close them.
- Event Breakdown and Cleanup: Assist with the breakdown and cleanup of the event space, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and quietly.
- Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization throughout the event.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt to event-specific needs.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high service standards.
- Previous experience in food and beverage service or catering is a plus but not required.
- Punctuality and reliability are essential.
