Banquet Server On Call

About the Role

Join the Banquets team at The Westin Columbus Downtown and contribute to delivering exceptional events and service.

Responsibilities

• Set up banquet rooms as instructed by the Supervisor, including linen, serviceware, and glassware.
• Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations.
• Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Serve food and/or beverages in the order and to the expectation of the Supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.
• Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function.
• Abide by all State, Federal, and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
• Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
• Reset banquet rooms according to Supervisor’s specifications to ensure readiness for the following function.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate in English.
• Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
• Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
• Strong communication skills with guests.
• Willingness to assist co-workers with their job duties and work as a team player.
• Knowledge of various types of equipment and set-up styles used in meeting rooms (e.g., different table types like round, schoolroom, etc.).
• Ability to lift and move multiple tables, chairs, and podiums weighing up to 100 lbs. through crowded rooms.
• Considerable physical activity on a continuous basis throughout the shift for room set-up and breakdown.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a Banquet Department.
• Food Handlers and TIPS or equivalent certifications are a plus.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Customer service and satisfaction as a priority.
