Responsibilities
- Gather supplies and set up banquet rooms according to the Banquet Event Order and instructions from the Banquet Captain, including linen, service ware, and glassware.
- Attend pre-event stand-up meetings to learn function details, guest expectations, and hotel requirements.
- Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Serve food and/or beverages in the order and to the standards directed by the Banquet Captain to ensure consistency throughout the event.
- Promptly bus dishes as guests complete each course or meal and reset tables as needed.
- Replenish beverages and check guest satisfaction throughout the event.
- Clear and reset banquet rooms after events to prepare for the next function, following supervisor specifications.
- Line out supplies for future functions as directed.
- Perform assigned side work, including replenishing condiments and restocking banquet shelves.
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to maintain health and safety standards.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety, and security procedures.
- Follow department fire prevention and emergency procedures, utilizing protective equipment as required.
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage, or loss to a supervisor.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety and security rules.
- Assist other banquet personnel as needed and perform related duties as requested by supervisors or managers.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per team member standards.
Requirements
- Knowledge of all state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages, including restrictions for minors and intoxicated guests.
- Hold a current Food Handler Card.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.
- Basic proficiency in English to understand customer inquiries and communicate simple instructions.
- Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions for safe product use.
- Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
- Ability to operate beverage equipment, such as coffee makers.
Physical Demands
- Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. continuously throughout a shift in crowded spaces.
- Lifting up to 30 pounds maximum.
- Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or move goods on a hand cart/truck weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.
