Banquet Houseperson - Canopy

About the role

The Banquet Houseperson position plays a major role in the hotel's Food & Beverage experience. This role is accountable for the setup, takedown, and overall cleanliness of the banquet space. Must be able to multi-task and act quickly and effectively while maintaining self-composure.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness and organization of banquet rooms, hallways, restrooms, storage, and service areas.
• Sets up for events, carries trays, serves guests, and cleans up at the event's conclusion. Setup includes:
  • Putting out tablecloths and place settings.
  • Arranging table placement.
  • Setting up buffets.
• Cleans up by breaking down tables and taking tablecloths and linens to laundry.
• Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs.
• Inspects linen, silver, china, and other items prior to using them.
• During events, assists servers and bartenders, transports tables and equipment, reports maintenance issues to management, and provides requested information to banquet patrons.
• Assembles temporary dance floors, podiums, and other structures.
• Upsells venue services and amenities to guests.
• Assists with audio-visual (A/V) setup of equipment, such as speakers and monitors.
• May help transport food, beverages, decorations, and equipment to off-premises event locations.

Requirements

• Previous hotel/hospitality or related service industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates.
• Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel.

Work Environment

This job operates behind the bar and in other close quarters in proximity to co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, and burns.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit or stand in a designated work area throughout the day based on business needs.
• Must have the ability to move around freely throughout the designated work area.
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach tables and kitchen in a timely manner.
• Must be able to lift up to 25-30 lbs. frequently throughout shift, and lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Requires grasping, writing, sitting or standing, moving about freely, using a computer, repetitive motions, bending, reaching, crouching, and communicating effectively.
• Must be willing and able to wash hands frequently throughout the shift.

Pay

$16.37/hr
