POSITION PURPOSE
To assist the banquet department with the coordination and service delivery of food and beverage experiences to our guests.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Set up tables with china, silverware, and other service equipment in accordance with Event Order (EO) and break down assigned banquet rooms according to managers instructions.
- Maintain standards of quality and service according to Marcus Hotels and Resorts and Marriott standards.
- Prepare work areas such as coffee stations, bread stations prior to function.
- Service of food and beverages according to Marcus Hotels and Resorts and Marriott standards.
- Handle guest requests or coordinate additional assistance from supervisor or manager.
- Communicate frequently with captains, supervisors and managers.
- Maintain condition and cleanliness of banquet rooms, public areas, and storage areas.
- Maintain inventory of necessary supplies.
- Promote excellent guest/associate rapport by responding and completing all requests promptly, efficiently, and courteously.
- Follow all Marcus Hotels and Resorts policies and procedures, Marriott Standards, and Information Protection procedures.
- Attend all scheduled mandatory Banquet Department meetings, trainings and hotel meetings.
- Perform all other related duties and special projects as requested and/or assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma preferred.
- No experience required. Prior hospitality/customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to respond quickly and accurately to guest requests.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and efficiently.
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings and proper set-up preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active Lancaster County Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service Training Certification as well as any additional training / certification requirements per Marcus Hotels / Resorts, Marriott and Lancaster County.
- Dependable and reliable to meet the demands of a 24 hour operation with flexibility to work a varied schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays and the ability to work under pressure.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively deal with guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills to include the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English Language.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and or carry up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to stand and move throughout continuously to perform essential job functions.
- Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
- Must be able to represent the company in a professional, well-groomed and courteous manner.
