About the role
This position is responsible for preparing and serving beverages to guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner while adhering to all health regulations and local liquor laws. The role involves setting up, maintaining, and taking down the bar according to function specifications, ensuring exceptional guest service, and creating an inviting bar atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Greet all guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Accurately and quickly take, prepare, and deliver beverage orders according to standards.
- Respond to guests' needs and provide high-quality service.
- Operate the micros operating system and cash register, following all cash handling and POS procedures.
- Dispense appropriate levels of alcohol and prepare drinks to recipe and brand standards.
- Ensure proper use of all equipment and adhere to cost controls to reduce expenses and waste.
- Check guests’ identification and monitor consumption of alcoholic beverages to comply with state and local liquor laws.
- Suggestively sell to maximize revenue.
- Assist other associates as needed to meet guest needs.
- Take direction and feedback from hotel management.
- Maintain cleanliness by disposing of garbage, picking up trays, re-stocking barware, mopping, sweeping, and wiping down the bar.
- Move mobile bars if necessary, transfer dirty glassware to the dish room, and polish clean glassware.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, including beginning and end-of-shift inventory.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, handling all beverage/food in compliance with brand, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Follow all procedures for guest and associate incidents and be knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures.
- Produce required work volume by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work duties.
- Adhere to grooming, appearance, and general work rules and department procedures.
- Attend all required department and hotel meetings and follow attendance policies.
- Complete all required side work and take initiative to assist wherever necessary.
- Work as a team player and actively contribute to the success of the guest experience.
Requirements
- TIPS or CARE beverage service certification desired; ability to obtain certification is required.
- One or more years of previous bartending experience or Bartender certification.
- Demonstrated exemplary customer service, attention to detail, and ability to perform job duties in a repetitious and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to speak, understand, and write English to meet guests' needs and complete required paperwork.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Requires continuous walking, standing, carrying, and moving about the property throughout the shift.
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of previous bartending experience and Bartender certification.
