About the role

This position leads the operational and client-experience efforts of a banking center, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and excellent service while managing a team of tellers.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and secure a cash drawer and single-control vault, following all audit and security policies.
  • Monitor daily balancing and processing of ATMs, including servicing and required audits.
  • Verify deposits in night and lobby depositories.
  • Alert tellers about suspected fraud, kiting, theft, or other illegal activities.
  • Secure cash records, transaction records, supplies, and computer equipment at the end of each workday.
  • Monitor, control, and balance teller cash limits and banking center cash daily.
  • Coordinate and assist with dual-control vault responsibilities.
  • Use judgment to override transactions for tellers within withdrawal/less-cash authority, following bank policies.
  • Assist tellers in balancing, review daily banking office settlement, and prepare correcting entries for errors.
  • Perform teller cash audits as required.
  • Stay informed of operational updates and changes to ensure compliance with current guidelines.
  • Lead client-experience efforts, delivering excellent service and resolving issues promptly.
  • Ensure proper control and efficiency in the teller line to minimize customer wait times.
  • Attend sales, service, and product-knowledge meetings to enhance client service.
  • Cross-sell and refer clients to bank partners to generate new business and deepen relationships.
  • Explain product benefits, changes, restrictions, and requirements to clients and tellers.
  • Maintain workflow and schedule tellers.
  • Observe, coach, and lead the teller team to execute strategic initiatives effectively.
  • Assist in evaluating employee performance, counseling, and addressing training needs.
  • Conduct teller meetings to communicate new policies and promote staff development.
  • Ensure compliance with bank regulations, policies, procedures, risk management, and internal controls.
  • Lead operational performance by maintaining control over key risk areas, including teller differences, operational losses, and audit procedures.
  • Resolve out-of-balance conditions and ensure compliance with quarterly and annual audit functions.
  • Control inventory of cash, official checks, and personal money orders through dual control.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate, and evaluate designated personnel in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Appraise performance, provide pay-change recommendations, and discipline employees.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must pass a background credit check and comply with the S.A.F.E Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008.
