Banking Center Manager II | Downtown Champaign
About the Role
The Banking Center Manager II (BCM) manages a banking center designated as larger in asset size, higher transaction volume, and/or elevated staffing levels. The BCM leads all areas of sales, service, and operations, holding the team accountable for needs-based selling of bank products and services to grow the banking center. This role involves supervising, mentoring, and coaching the team to achieve sales, service, and operational goals through Service Excellence.
Responsibilities
- Customer Service & Relationship Management
- Lead by example in providing exceptional, high-level customer service, addressing complex inquiries, complaints, and concerns with professionalism and efficiency.
- Serve as primary contact for high-net-worth consumer and business customers, offering tailored financial solutions.
- Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships to ensure their financial needs are met.
- Sales & Service Leadership and Business Development
- Lead sales efforts to achieve banking center quarterly and annual goals.
- Ensure overall banking center sales and service performance and results.
- Model and coach Service Excellence standards and expectations.
- Coordinate staffing plans and personnel needs with the Market Manager.
- Supervise, evaluate, coach, and provide corrective counseling to all banking center associates.
- Develop and support a strong needs-based sales environment through modeling behaviors, conducting sales meetings, coaching sessions, and providing recognition.
- Attract new business clients through networking and community partnerships.
- Maintain strong partnerships with other Line of Business leaders to expand customer relationships.
- Cultivate and deepen relationships with business customers to meet their financial needs.
- Complete additional banking center-specific responsibilities as determined by Consumer Leadership.
- Operations, Compliance & Risk Management
- Oversee banking center audits, including the Risk & Compliance Quarterly Review.
- Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and privacy regulations.
- Monitor and detect suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Oversee daily operational tasks including cash balancing, managing office supplies, and supporting the opening and closing of the banking center.
- Associate Development & Training
- Supervise associates, providing coaching and development to meet sales goals, adhere to policies, and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Understand team members’ career objectives and provide mentoring and training to support their development.
- Ensure the team completes all required training in a timely manner.
- Leverage Associate Development Programs to enhance team skills and broaden knowledge.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of banking or management experience in progressively responsible roles at a financial institution or related business field.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong sales and customer service skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions regarding banking center operations.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for complex issues.
- Familiarity with and support of mergers and acquisitions as they relate to retail banking.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Pursuant to the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (“SAFE Act”), all Banking Center Managers (if lending) must maintain current registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (“NMLS”). If such registration is not active as of the hire date, the Banking Center Manager must immediately attain active registration upon employment. Failure to maintain active registration may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Pay
Salary offered is based on factors including job duties, required qualifications, relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance. Base salary range: $65,000–$80,000 per year.
