Bander Operator 1st Shift

Entry-level position with a starting rate of $20.60 per hour. Shift: 1st (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM).

Responsibilities

• Operate the unitizer and corresponding equipment, including accurate placement of bands and stretch wrap according to setup techniques.
• Ensure proper placement of unit tags, cover sheets, and correct stacking patterns.
• Scan barcodes on units going through the unitizer.
• Create neat units with the proper number of bands on each unit.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Complete accurate and timely reports, including production data, machine operational status, safety data, and quality data.
• Verify unit quantities are correct and remove excess scrap from units.
• Operate a forklift safely when necessary.
• Submit maintenance orders to supervision for needed repairs and proactively maintain equipment.
• Adhere to production schedule; recommend optimizations to meet cost, quality, and service goals; report unusual scheduling issues to supervisor.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred qualifications:
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
  • Six months of experience in the Press or Finishing Department.
  • Prior work experience as a forklift operator.
• Language skills: Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
• Mathematical skills: Ability to read a tape measure quickly and accurately; calculate figures such as percentages, measurements, volume, and rate; apply high school math concepts.
• Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or graphic form; solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Technical skills:
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities for efficient operation.
  • Understanding of product layouts and production specifications.
  • Familiarity with product quality specifications and quality standards.
• Certificates, licenses, registrations: May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear.
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally required to sit.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
