Band Instrument Repair Shop Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure smooth operation of band instrument repair shop through proactive planning and development of effective policies/procedures
  • Oversee and mentor repair technicians; assist with recruiting/hiring technicians as necessary
  • Manage repair schedule, aiming to maximize output and minimize turnaround time
  • Order tools, supplies, and parts needed for the repair shop
  • Maintain machines (lathe, ultrasonic cleaner, etc.)
  • Maintain an up-to-date service table (list of repair services and associated pricing)
  • Service store-owned rental fleet; evaluate and repair customer- & school-owned instruments
  • Use TriTech AIM software to create and process repair tickets
  • Shop & Workspace Care: Keep personal and shared benches clean and organized; Operate shop equipment: ultrasonic cleaner, lathe, MDRS dent-removal system
  • Customer, Staff & Educator Support: Discuss repair needs in clear, jargon-free language; Coordinate with educational reps to deliver top-quality service to schools

What We’re Looking For:

  • Management experience and/or the skills and personality required to inspire and lead
  • Woodwind and brass repair certification or proven equivalent experience
  • Pleasant, tactful communication style; ability to explain technical work simply
  • Basic computer proficiency (repair ticket software)
  • Team-oriented mindset; benches are arranged face-to-face in a well-lit shop (with windows)
