About the Role

The Baler Operator tends the machine that compresses and binds paper and corrugated scrap to facilitate handling.

Responsibilities

  • Cart or carry materials to shredder machine
  • Place materials in shredder and then send shredded scrap to the compression chamber of the baling machine
  • Move lever or electric switch, causing ram to compress material
  • Thread tie bands into baler, which twists or clamps ends of bands to tighten bands
  • Weigh bales and record weight
  • Remove bales from machine and truck bale to storage place
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors

Performance is measured by adherence to safety policies and procedures, quality of work, and production goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Industrial Truck Operator certificate desired
  • Previous baler operator experience desired
  • Safety-sensitive position – ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed
  • Ability to effectively work in teams
  • Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles
  • Ability to operate hand tools and forklift

Pay

$21.83 - $23.40 per hour
