This opportunity is at a foodservice folding carton manufacturing operation in Chicago, IL. The position is for a Baler Operator with a starting pay of $20.57 per hour plus shift differential and progressive pay increases. Responsibilities

Job Functions

• Load paper scrap onto the conveyor belt of the bale machine using a crane (lift and lock loaded dumpster onto baler stand, then tilt dumpster by operating crane).
• Spread scrap along the belt to prevent machine congestion.
• Wrap baled scrap with metal straps; fasten and tighten straps using a stretcher.
• Weigh bales of scrap and fill out inventory tags (grade and weight) to attach to each bale; place bales on weight scale using a forklift.
• Stack all bales according to grade using a forklift.
• Load bales onto trailer beds for shipping using a forklift.

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities

• Follow all plant rules, processes, hygiene, and allergen procedures related to production of safe quality foods.
• Report to a person of authority any potentially unsafe conditions that may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance with SQF procedures.
• Participate in SQF root cause and corrective actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
• Follow all procedures related to producing safe quality foods (SQF).
• Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.

Requirements

• Must speak, read, and write in English.
• No prior experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Pay

$20.57 per hour plus shift differential and progressive pay increases.

Schedule

• Shifts up to 8 or 12 hours on alternate days with rotating weekends off.
• Must be able to work alternate schedules and overtime, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends.
• Some departments/jobs may run a Monday–Friday 8-hour shift schedule.
• Must be willing and able to work overtime and be punctual.
